General Manager Giuseppe (Seppy) Basili is the general manager of Kaplan’s K12 Learning Services division, which delivers college and career readiness supplemental resources that open doors and broaden opportunities for all students. Seppy is a 16-year veteran of Kaplan, with a wealth of relevant knowledge of the education industry. During his tenure with the company, he was Senior Vice President of Learning and Assessment, where he oversaw all product creation and implementation of the K12 custom curriculum business. He developed key partnerships with hundreds of school districts nationwide, including Chicago Public Schools and the Los Angeles Unified School District. He also served as Executive Director of Pre-College Programs, overseeing Kaplan’s test preparation programs and publications for the SAT, ACT and PSAT exams as well as college admissions services. In addition, Seppy has written and edited numerous Kaplan publications on test preparation and college admissions. Seppy also serves as a Kaplan spokesperson for issues related college planning, state assessment preparation and professional development and is a frequent contributor on the Today Show. Outside of his work at Kaplan, Seppy has worked at leading educational companies including Renaissance Learning, the International Center for Leadership in Education (Scholastic Inc.) and Catapult Learning. Vice President
Mr. Robinson has over forty years of success working in the education arena. He is currently Vice President of Sales for Kaplan K12, College Prep & School Partnerships. He is charged with moving Kaplan K12 into metro markets, developing partnerships with federal agencies and additional K12 vendors so Kaplan can capitalize on its strong brand. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Major Accounts for Quantum Learning Technologies in Ann Arbor, MI. He opened and expanded accounts in Nashville PS; Memphis City SD; San Diego City Schools; Washoe County, NV; Alaska and Washington. From 2001-2007 he served as Vice President of Sales for startup Advanced Academics. An accredited middle and high school; sold to DeVry, Inc. From 1997-2000, Mr. Robinson was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for startup NeTel Educational Systems, where he had a significant impact on the company’s growth. The company sold to Knowledge Universe. From 1993-1997 he was Vice President of Sales for startup Creative Publications where he increased sales from $20 million in 1994 to $80 million in 1996 and established relationships with the education and curriculum commissions in multiple states. The company sold to Tribune, Inc. Mr. Robinson has also held sales positions at Macmillan/McGraw Hill and Simon and Schuster Company. He also has done consulting work for Leapfrog; Achieva.com; CInnovations; Achieve Data Solutions; Scholar Centric; Civil Survival; Learning Upgrade and several other small, medium sized K12 companies. He started his career in 1972 at Pomona USD where he taught Physical Education for grades 7-9 and coached 9th grade football and baseball. From 1975 to 1986, Mr. Robinson taught Social Studies for grades 7-8 and coached JV and Varsity football and basketball at Our Lady of Assumption School in the Los Angeles Archdiocese. Executive Director, Client Services & Operations Heather Sekiguchi is the Executive Director of Client Services & Operations and has a 10+ year tenure at Kaplan. Currently, her teams manage the procurement and operational aspects of partnering with districts, schools, community-based organizations, and strategic accounts. Prior to this role, Sekiguchi was Vice President of Marketing for ScholarCentric and a Marketing Consultant for Rowland Reading Foundation and Books in Homes Australia. Sekiguchi has also served as the Executive Director of Marketing, Executive Director of Strategic Accounts, and the Executive Director of Research & Development for Kaplan K12. Before joining Kaplan, Sekiguchi led online course development for Achieva College Prep Programs. One of these online courses won a CODiE for Best Education Solution. Sekiguchi's career in education began when she was a state-certified high school English teacher in Massachusetts. She has a B.A. in English and Education from Bates College, and a M.A. in English from Stanford University. |
