President, Kaplan K-12 and College Prep

Justin Serrano is the president of Kaplan K-12 and college prep programs at Kaplan Test Prep, a division of Kaplan, Inc., the worldwide leader in test prep and education.

Justin has worked for Kaplan Test Prep for over 15 years, during which time he has held a range of leadership positions.  In his current role, he directs Kaplan Test Prep’s K-12 and college prep business, which serves K-12 students and schools, providing state test readiness programs and college preparation solutions.  As president of Kaplan K-12 and college prep, he has presided over consistent growth in Kaplan’s SAT® and ACT® business.  He also spearheaded the development of Kaplan’s Smart Track™ platform, which analyzes individual student performance and prescribes a custom learning plan.  Under his management, there has also been significant growth in Kaplan’s SAT and ACT live, online Classroom Anywhere™ programs.

During his tenure overseeing Kaplan Test Prep’s graduate business, he led the integration of official test maker content into Kaplan’s courses.   Justin’s prior roles at Kaplan include leadership of the pre-college business which includes preparation for the PSAT®, SAT, and ACT exams, as well as serving as a regional director for Kaplan, overseeing the division’s operations in the North Atlantic region.  Prior to that, Justin served as Director of Teacher Recruitment and Development for Kaplan.

Justin began his career at Kaplan as a teacher and student advisor in Manhattan in 1995. As an instructor, he taught a diverse array of test prep courses including MCAT®, DAT®, GMAT®, SAT, SCI-HI®, GRE® and LSAT®. Because of his early record of achievement, within his first year at Kaplan he became the manager and director for Kaplan’s Brooklyn center.

Since September 2010, he has served on the board of Computers for Youth, a not-for-profit education organization dedicated to improving the home learning environment of low-income school children.

Justin graduated from Cornell University in 1994 with a B.A. and received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 2001.

Vice President, Client Services, Kaplan K-12 and College Prep

Amy Briggs leads Client Services for Kaplan K-12 and College Prep, managing Kaplan state test readiness and college preparation programs for school and district partners across the country.

Amy has worked for Kaplan K-12 and College Prep since March of 2010. Prior to joining Kaplan, she was a member of the Urban Initiatives team at McGraw-Hill Education. Amy joined McGraw-Hill in 2004 as part of their acquisition of The Grow Network. At Grow, Amy led the program management and professional development services related to state, district and international large-scale assessment reporting programs.

Previously, Amy was a management consultant with Bain and Company in their New York office. Amy graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in English and American Literature and Language and received an M.B.A. in Operations and Information Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Vice President, Client Services, Operations and Technology, Kaplan K-12 and College Prep

Mark Freidberg leads Client Services, Operations and Technology efforts for Kaplan’s K-12 and College Prep division, which offers programs for elementary, middle and high school students.  He has over 15 years of experience supporting operational efforts to ensure the highest quality service for customers.   Mark joined Kaplan in 1993 and has served in a variety of leadership and operations roles during his tenure.

Mark has been with Kaplan for over 10 years, and launched the online Academic Tutoring business as well as Kaplan Test Prep’s Customer Care Center.  Mark has a B.S. from Columbia University and a M.B.A. from Fordham University.
